 Program Description

AMH-IOP is a 3 hours a day / 3 days a week intensive group treatment. It is designed to help patients to restore their mental health. Major Insurances cover the Mental Health IOP treatment.  The AIOP takes place three times a week from 3pm-6pm.

AMH IOP is a structured group therapy program designed for adolescents, ages 13 through 17, who exhibit psychiatric symptoms and significant impairment in day-to-day educational, social and interpersonal functioning. The program is medically supervised and can be an appropriate alternative to inpatient treatment, or can provide a transition from inpatient care to outpatient care.

Family participation is strongly encouraged in this highly structured, intensive outpatient program. The adolescent’s family and referring therapist are encouraged to participate in the treatment and discharge planning process.

Who will Benefit from IOP for Adolescents?

If an adolescent experiences:

  • Difficulties with parental and peer pressure, teen issues,

  • Problems communicating their needs at home, in school and social surroundings,

  • Inability to find a middle ground with people around them,

  • Struggling to maintain balanced relationship with parents and siblings as a result of miscommunication, mixed messages and

  • Lack of coping strategies and communication skills to be used in such relationships, he or she can greatly benefit from this group.

An additional avenue of the IOP Program for Adolescents is a learning process of building a healthy and stable relationship with the opposite sex, which would ultimately lead to an awareness of the important ingredients for the future healthy relationships and creating a well-balanced family.

Teens experiencing depressive symptoms, anxiety and/or panicky feelings, aggression and agitation, feelings of not being heard at home, or being neglected by parents or people significant in their life, difficulty adjusting to new situations in life are welcome to join the group.

Many adolescents and their families don't have enough tools that they can use in building an open, productive, loving and sharing relationship that family members need to have. This is why parents are encouraged to participate in one on one or group sessions with the psychotherapist.

If needed, adolescents and their parents are given homework to complete so that they can learn what interventions to use and how to better communicate with each other in a more open and productive way to avoid conflicts, confrontations and temperamental outbursts.

This Program offers a very friendly, relaxed, sharing, open and no pressure environment that is a key to success in therapy. It will help adolescents and their families to create new branches of relationships between parents and children, to understand each other better and on a more personal level.
